Senior Developer for large enterprise program
Lead the design, integration, and delivery of a new Internal Developer Portal (IDP). This role suits a candidate with strong platform engineering experience, deep understanding of metadata‑driven catalogues, and hands‑on expertise with Backstage OSS and DevOps ecosystems.
Project Overview
The program is implementing a Backstage OSS‑based portal that integrates with existing DevOps, monitoring, cloud, and security platforms. The IDP will support automated metadata ingestion, lifecycle visibility, dependency mapping, operational insights, and developer self‑service. It will catalogue assets including APIs, microservices, MuleSoft applications, Kafka objects, CDC pipelines, CI/CD pipelines, architecture patterns, and testing patterns.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, integrate, and deploy the IDP using Backstage OSS
* Implement automated metadata ingestion from systems such as API gateways, source control, CI/CD, runtime platforms, cloud resources, Kafka clusters, CDC pipelines, and observability tooling
* Develop and maintain a domain‑aware catalogue covering services, APIs, microservices, Mule apps, Kafka assets, pipelines, patterns, and runtime metadata
* Ensure metadata completeness, accuracy, and traceability back to authoritative systems
* Identify and manage missing, inconsistent, or outdated metadata
* Support extensibility for new asset types and future metadata sources
* Integrate security, identity, role‑based access control, networking metadata, certificates, routing, and operational monitoring
* Collaborate closely with architects, platform teams, DevOps engineers, and stakeholders
Ideal Candidate
* Strong experience delivering developer portals or catalogue platforms (Backstage OSS preferred)
* Expertise across DevOps, cloud environments, CI/CD, IaC, and observability tooling
* Solid understanding of APIs, microservices, integration patterns, Kafka, and runtime platforms
* Demonstrated ability to design metadata ingestion pipelines and asset catalogues
* Excellent communication, analytical ability, and independent problem‑solving skills
