Primary objective
Provide high standard of environmental management (cleaning and waste) to prevent transmission of healthcare associated
infections, in areas across Tennant Creek Hospital and Renal Unit in accordance with the Australian Cleaning Standards,
Australian Guidelines for the Prevention Infection Control and Tennant Creek Hospital Environmental Services Cleaning
Manual.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level environmental management (cleaning and waste) service to public, administrative, clinical, onsite
accommodation, Renal Unit, and other designated areas of Tennant Creek Hospital, which includes assisting in receiving
and distributing of linen as, required in accordance with the Tennant Creek Hospital Environmental Services Cleaning
Manual.
1. Contribute to the Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Control awareness and support a collaborative
team environment.
1. Participate in a rotating roster, which includes morning, afternoon shifts, weekend, and public holidays.
2. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary teamwork practices and role modelling behaviour.
3. Follow defined service quality standards, WHS policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to
ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven cleaning experience in a hospital, commercial, or institutional environment.
2. Demonstrated physical ability to undertake cleaning, waste management duties including the use of cleaning equipment,
transporting waste to designated areas in accordance with best practice manual handling techniques.
3. Demonstrated initiative, reliability and punctuality, capacity to maintain confidentiality and to work as an effective team
member.
4. Demonstrated understanding of hygiene, infection prevention control, and WHS principles as they apply in the hospital
context.
5. Demonstrated capacity to organise and prioritise workloads and to complete delegated tasks with minimal supervision.
6. Preparedness and capacity to work shift work over a seven-day roster with shifts commencing at times which suit area
needs including weekend and public holidays.
7. Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate a range of issues accurately
and clearly.
