Position Overview
Occupation: Education Support Class Position – specialised support and maintenance role under the supervision of the Principal.
Location: Melbourn – Southern suburbs, Wallarano Primary School.
Key responsibilities include coordinating support tasks, maintaining teaching facilities, and assisting teachers with a range of technical and welfare duties. The role requires following school policies and meeting applicable workplace standards.
Responsibilities
* Gardens and Lawns: Establish a regular maintenance program – mowing, trimming, edging, weed control (spraying), mulching and watering; other duties as directed by the Principal.
* Maintenance & Repairs: General infrastructure maintenance – doors, locks, weather‑strips, hinges, closers, gates, fences, classroom and office furniture. Liaise with Principal/Business Manager on all maintenance and repair issues. Painting of external and internal spaces as required.
* Buildings: Checking and emptying spouting and downpipes; cleaning electrical cupboards, heating units and store rooms; sweeping paved areas at least once a week.
Qualifications and Experience
* Up to three years of relevant certification or qualifications; further training may be required on an ongoing basis.
* Experience in a supportive or maintenance role in an educational environment is preferred.
* Basic technical and scientific knowledge enabling adaptation of work methods and independent judgment within clear guidelines.
