BŌTO Wine Bar and Restaurant Assistant Manager

BŌTO Teppanyaki + Wine Loft is seeking a full time, Wine & Hospitality professional to assist the Manager in day-to-day operations of our BŌTO Teppanyaki + Wine Store team.

Located in our upstairs Wine Loft, BŌTO offers an unparalleled culinary experience that marries tradition with modernity. Our skilled Japanese chefs are dedicated to sourcing only the finest ingredients, ensuring that each component of our menu is meticulously selected for quality and freshness.

Each dish is thoughtfully prepared using ancient Japanese techniques, harmoniously fusing Japanese cuisine with locally sourced West Australian produce. We pride ourselves on putting the very best on the plate paired with wines sourced from across the world, in a space that is relaxed, inviting and energized by the vibrant market below.

About You

As Assistant Manager you will play a vital role in enhancing the guest experience by ensuring exceptional service and a well-curated wine selection. This position involves assisting in the management of day-to-day operations, including overseeing staff performance, managing reservations, and maintaining inventory levels of wines and beverages.

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for training staff on wine knowledge and etiquette, guiding them to deliver personalized recommendations to guests. Additionally, this role includes collaborating with the department manager to develop promotional events, wine tastings, and pairings that elevate the dining experience.

A strong passion for wine, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to foster a positive team environment are key components for success in this role.

Responsibilities Include:

- Being the approved manager on duty, responsible for ensuring smooth service and responsible service of alcohol.
- Overseeing and assisting in the service of food, wine, beer & spirits
- Serving customers in our retail space, providing recommendations, facilitating sales & maintaining the general up-keep of the store.
- Assisting in fine-tuning of processes, standards of service and establishing consistency within the team
- Assist in visual merchandising, creating and displaying promotional material
- Receiving, invoicing & unpacking stock
- Maintaining back-end POS Systems; creating items, recipes & price campaigns.

Role Requirements

- Minimum 2 Years in a similar role.
- Knowledge of wine is essential. (WSET 3 or equivalent is highly beneficial)
- Weekend and Evening work required
- Flexibility to work in a dynamic and evolving workspace - rolling up your sleeves when needed.
- Must be able to work under pressure and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Ordinary driver’s license: occasionally required to complete trips to the company warehouse and deliver to customers.
- Abide by company policies and procedures at all times.

Qualification Requirements

- Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) is Required
- Approved Managers is Required.
- WSET 3 or Equivalent - Highly Recommended
