The Role
Are you a commercially driven leader with a background in mining, quarrying, & construction? This is your opportunity to combine strategic business development with hands-on operational leadership.
This role predominantly blends growth strategy with execution, focusing on identifying new opportunities (Business Development) and ensuring efficient internal processes (Operations) to achieve them. You will have the required skills in strategic planning, stakeholder management, contract negotiation, and operational leadership to expand client bases and streamline service delivery, often for new markets, or partnerships
You'll lead our Mackay operations and performance, including people leadership, safety compliance, and profit and loss accountability and drive growth across Queensland's mining and quarry industry & construction. Your primary focus will be generating growth strategies and identifying new market opportunities for crushing and screening services on either contract, wet and dry hire.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
* Develop and implement growth strategies, identifying new markets and opportunities for crushing and screening services across North Queensland
* Build a relationship and manage the current client base
* Cultivate and manage both new and existing client/partner relationships, attending events and networking
* Generate leads, assist the Business Development Manager (Corporate) write proposals, and negotiations
Operations Management
* Ensure alignment between development strategies and operational execution.
* Oversee day-to-day business operations and optimize business processes for our workshop operations, including repairs and maintenance of crushing, screening and mobile plant equipment
* Manage scheduling, inventory, and resources to optimise efficiency and profitability.
* Manage, lead and mentor staff, fostering a positive culture ensuring compliance to the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality System, and drive productivity.
* Ownership and accountability for workshop P&L, cost control, and performance reporting.
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience in business development within mining, quarrying, or heavy industry and establishing growth strategies with execution, focusing on identifying new opportunities (Business Development) and ensuring efficient internal processes (Operations) to achieve them
* Researching trends within the industry, developing plans, & seizing opportunities
* Building and nurturing relationships both new and existing with clients, partners, & internal teams.
* Reviewing contracts and agreements with the corporate leadership team.
* Quarry Manager, mechanical or industry background along with a solid understanding of the operation and maintenance of Crushing and Screening equipment will be highly desirable.
* Hands-on leadership style with excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Well-connected in the North Queensland mining and quarrying sectors.
* Current driver's licence and ability to travel as required.
* Residential in Mackay
