About the job
Our Engineering Solutions team are seeking an experienced High Voltage Electrical Specialist to provide expert technical support within our Electrical Engineering discipline. In this role, you will deliver high-level technical investigations, design input, system development, and advisory services across all aspects of electrical infrastructure and standards.

About the Person
You are a seasoned electrical engineering professional with deep expertise in high voltage systems and infrastructure. With a strong background in technical investigations, design, and compliance, you bring a proactive and solutions-focused mindset to complex engineering challenges. You thrive in collaborative environments, and your ability to interpret and apply electrical standards ensures safe, reliable, and efficient outcomes.
Additional responsibilities include:
You will act as an experienced practitioner for High Voltage (HV) electrical matters within our business, delivering high-level technical investigations, designs, reviews, systems development, audits, and advisory services related to all aspects of water and wastewater standards and infrastructure.
Duties:
* Provide technical leadership on Safety in Design (SiD) matters.
* Provide field support and respond to ad hoc queries from Maintenance or Operations personnel.
* Liaise with engineering service providers, contractors, vendors and facilitate the seamless progress of equipment design, selection, fabrication, construction, and commissioning.
* Provide technical guidance to the High Voltage Switching Committee (HVSC) for SA Water, in the application of safe systems as a part of this committee.
* Provide specialised investigation, review, design, and technical skills for auditing of SA Water projects and evaluation of vendor information to meet safety, time and budget constraints.
* Assist in the development and maintenance of technical standards relating to HV systems for SA Water.
* Where necessary, liaise with the various power authorities and the Office of the Technical Regulator on compliance matters or general enquiries.
Skills and experience
* Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience in the development, utilisation and auditing of technical and infrastructure standards.
* Understanding of HV systems, protection schemes, testing, commissioning and inspection and maintenance aspects.
* Experience in the utilisation and auditing of technical and infrastructure standards.
* Have chartered status or the ability to obtain by 30
th
of June 2026.
