The GIANTS are on an exciting journey both on and off the field. With teams competing in the AFL, AFLW and SuperNetball competitions, the GIANTS truly are a club like no other. We are currently seeking a Legal Counsel to join our team on a part-time basis (2 days per week), supporting the club across a range of legal, compliance and governance matters. Working closely with the Executive General Manager, Corporate Affairs, People, this role will provide legal support across the GIANTS business, with a strong focus on supporting the People & Culture and Commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Review, draft and amend employment contracts, contractor agreements and workplace documentation.
* Provide legal advice on workplace matters including performance, conduct, compliance and procedural fairness.
* Review commercial and sponsorship agreements.
* Draft, update and refine workplace policies and procedures.
* Support compliance with employment law, workplace obligations and relevant AFL policies.
* Assist with governance and compliance related matters across the club.
Skills and Knowledge
* Bachelor of Laws and admitted to practice in Australia
* 3-6 years post-admission experience (in-house or private practice preferred)
* Strong understanding of employment law, contract law and workplace compliance
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to provide practical, commercially minded legal advice
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage sensitive matters confidentially
