Primary objective
Provide professional management of front office services including providing financial and administrative support to the
Business Manager, the Principal and Teaching staff in a busy and demanding school environment.
Context statement
Darwin's longest established government school, Parap Primary School is located close to the city centre. The Finance/Admin
provides a key role in supporting the Principal, Business Manager and Teachers and Students.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Business Manager in financial management of the school, processing invoices, payroll, uniform stock
management and preparation of purchase orders, using accounting package Ci Anywhere.
2. Manage all processes in the school data systems (SAMS), including enrolments, to ensure accurate maintenance of all
student records. Managing day to day and individual attendance data and communication with staff and families.
3. Supervise the front office staff and the management of the front office reception activities including, receipting,
answering calls, greeting visitors and administering first aid to students.
4. Supporting school events, parent evenings and fundraising opportunities at the school.
5. Provide a high level of written and oral communication to support the front office, the principal and teaching staff
including word processing, data entry, administrative and other tasks as directed by the Business Manager.
6. Coordinator of the Work Health and Safety committee and arranging maintenance of the school facilities.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1. Highly developed computer literacy skills, including experience using online databases for enrolment and attendance,
such as Ci Anywhere, SAMS and Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to provide support to staff and students
2. Proven successful experience in all aspects of administration, demonstrating high attention to detail, sound judgement,
the ability to maintain confidentiality and a clear understanding of the need for tact and diplomacy.
3. Demonstrated experience in financial administration, including payroll, procurement, receipting, and banking, in
accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
4. Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate
professionally and effectively at all levels, including with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
5. Strong written, oral communication, organisational skills and ability to prioritise work, with demonstrated experience in
providing efficient administrative support, managing a busy front office, and meeting competing deadlines in a high-
pressure environment.
6. Current or ability to obtain First Aid certification, with the ability to provide First Aid to staff and students as required
(First aid certificate required).
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the Department of Education procurement policies and procedures in relation to schools.
2. Experience in the use of SAMS, data bases, and integrated accountant packages.

1. The selected applicant must hold a current NT Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card) and Driver’s licence or the
ability to obtain prior to commencement.
2. Working hours are 7.30am – 3.21pm
