The opportunity
We are seeking a passionate Electrical and Electronic Systems Design Engineer to join the Mission Systems hardware team for the RAAF Wedgetail Program.
As a part of the hardware team, you will apply your engineering knowledge and experience to perform electrical and electronic systems engineering activities towards delivery of upgrades and new capability to the RAAF Wedgetail Mission System.
This role can be based in either Adelaide, Brisbane, or Williamtown.
Responsibilities
Work in a team to provide engineering design and support for mission computing hardware, sensors, communications, and avionics systems over the whole product lifecycle including design and sustainment
Conduct engineering activities in accordance with project plans and standards, while continually seeking out opportunities for process improvement
Develop, review and approve engineering designs and decisions
Perform and contribute to requirements analysis and specification, design, procurement, development, qualification, integration and test of Mission System hardware
Develop and review engineering documents and artefacts, preparation and delivery of presentations as required
Support Verification & Validation activities
Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and subject matter experts across technical engineering and specialty areas to develop innovative solutions that provide capability in support of the user's concept of operations.
Technical supervision of less experienced engineers, including teaching, guiding and coaching.
Perform independent review in accordance with delegated engineering authority.
Contribute to project engineering plans, processes, execution, and administration.
Experience / Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in electrical and electronic engineering or related technical discipline
Minimum 5+ years technical experience working in a project engineering environment
An ability to apply systems engineering practices with experience in design, development, integration, verification, operations or support phases
Hands-on experience with electronics and computing hardware and/or networking, particularly within a Mission System environment, is highly desirable
Knowledge of regulations, technical and safety standards for telecommunication, electrical & electronic equipment and installations is desirable
Familiarity with engineering change processes and enterprise gate processes is desirable
Excellent communication skills that enable you to influence outcomes within a team environment
A desire to work as part of a diverse, collaborative and innovative team
