General Manager – Marine Tourism & Hospitality

Australian Cruise Group is a leading Sydney‐based tourism and leisure business, owning and operating three unique cruise experiences on Sydney Harbour: Sydney Showboats, Magistic Cruises and Clearview Cruises. The company seeks a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our operations team.

Role Overview

The General Manager – Marine Tourism & Hospitality is responsible for all aspects of the day‐to‐day operations management across Australian Cruise Group's Sydney Harbour fleet. In this role, you will oversee cruise operations across marine & engineering and food & beverage to ensure safe and world‐class experiences. As GM you will report directly to the Chairman/Founder and manage five department heads (Marine Operations Manager, Executive Chef, Hospitality Manager, Fleet Engineer and Cast Coordinator), with support from the Operations Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

* Operations Oversight – oversee daily business operations including cruise departures, vessel maintenance, F&B restaurant operations, and supply chain logistics.
* Regulatory Compliance – ensure all staff and vessels operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with AMSA, NSW Maritime, food safety, liquor licence, WHS and environmental regulations. Implement and monitor safety protocols and training.
* People & Culture – lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, instilling a culture of collaboration, operational excellence and safety. Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, training and succession planning.
* Operational Budget & Cost Control – manage operational budgeting and implement cost controls across the operations.
* Onboard Revenue – maximise onboard revenue from food & beverage upgrades.
* Training & Operational Readiness – identify and oversee training opportunities in partnership with departmental heads, focusing on service, safety and guest experience.
* Guest Experience – maintain high standards of service delivery and guest satisfaction. Enforce SOPs and service quality frameworks. Analyse market trends, competitor activity and customer insights to improve product and customer experience.
* Vessel Reliability – ensure vessels meet the highest safety and reliability standards, in conjunction with engineering consultants.
* Stakeholder Relationships – maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, contractors, commercial partners and regulatory bodies; represent the organisation in tourism, maritime and hospitality industry forums.

Key Skills & Experience

* At least 8 years of managerial experience in the marine tourism or hospitality industry.
* Strong understanding of vessel operations and marine safety regulations.
* Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to build relationships with team, stakeholders and customers.
* Proven financial acumen with budgeting and cost control, supported by the finance team.
