**The opportunity**
Our client is a community focused federal government agency. They have an exciting opportunity available for a **Finance Business Partner** to join the Financial Control Branch in providing insightful financial reporting, to enable strategic decision making.
12-month initial Labour Hire contract with the opportunity to extend. EL1 level role paying a daily rate of $585 + Superannuation, to be based out of **Richmond or Geelong**, including 2 days working from home each week, with the remaining 3 on site.
**The role**
The position is an important team leadership position within the Agency and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail. The role requires providing leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the Team Membership and assigned Contractors working within the Work Area.
The EL1 Finance is required to coordinate and assume responsibility to undertake detailed or sensitive projects that may include performing varied activities involving many different and unrelated processes or methods that may impact on the strategic or operational outcomes that support the Agency's objectives.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Providing technical accounting advice and briefing to the Agency by navigating the Australian Accounting Standards and applicable government financial reporting rules and frameworks
- Reviewing and managing components of the Agency's trial balance using Systems Applications and Products software (SAP), providing monthly and annual reporting in Central Budget Management System (CBMS) to the Department of Finance
- Delivering the Agency's Budget
- Taking a lead role in the preparation of the Agency's financial statements and liaising with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) in relation to audit matters
- Delivering various month end financial reporting and analysis
- Partnering with other teams both within and external to the branch to provide technical and general accounting and finance advice
- Delivering various Finance projects and costings
- Developing and presenting a range of written material of a financial and business nature, including correspondence, briefs and reports
**About you**
- ** Australian citizenship is a requirement to be eligible for this position**:
- Advanced MS Excel
- Previous Finance Business Partnering experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Responsive and flexible, able to manage and adapt to multiple competing demands in a changing environment
- Innovative and open to continuous improvement
- Able to implement changes under broader direction
- Professional membership or towards (CA/CPA)
- SAP experience desirable
