Staff Specialist - Mental Health Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Staff Specialist to join our Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical services to the Albury team and the Wangaratta community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise, support, and direct the multidisciplinary Community Team to ensure effective continuity of care.
2. Promote best practices in admission, discharge, and case management.
3. Participate in clinical teaching and provide supervision to fellows, registrars, and Junior Medical Officers.
4. Teach medical students from the University of Melbourne and other disciplines as negotiated.
Mandatory Requirements:
* Registered or eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Knowledge and experience in providing direct clinical care for adults and youth in community and inpatient mental health services.
* Experience in clinical supervision for health professionals.
* Understanding of contemporary mental health service provision in Australia.
* Understanding and ability to apply the Mental Health Act 2022.
* Accredited in Victoria to perform ECT or willing to achieve accreditation.
* Willingness to participate in a shared weekend and on-call roster.
