Transforming lives within our community is at the heart of New Horizons. As an Aboriginal Case Worker, you'll play a pivotal role in the Supporting and Securing Tenancies Specialist Homelessness Program.


About the Role

This permanent full-time position offers 38 hours of work per week (Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm). Based in Coffs Harbour, you'll report directly to the Service Delivery Manager.

The Day-to-Day:

1. You will be allocated a caseload of individuals from diverse backgrounds, working closely with them to develop individual support plans and secure stable housing.
2. Your customers will receive support to access mainstream and specialist services, as well as build meaningful community connections.
3. You will address vulnerabilities such as trauma, abuse, family breakdown, domestic violence, mental health issues, substance abuse, cognitive impairments, discrimination, racism, financial difficulties, distrust in services, and sector navigation challenges.
4. Develop and implement individual support plans in partnership with your customers.
5. Provide advice, advocacy, and mentoring to empower customers to make informed choices.
6. Establish and maintain links with private rental sectors and service providers.
7. Network and negotiate with stakeholders to promote sector collaboration.
8. Empower customers by promoting independence, wellbeing, and informed choices using person-centred, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches.
9. Complete admin tasks such as progress notes, assessments, and reports accurately and on time.


What You Need:

* Strong values guiding your work, aligned with our organisational values of passion, integrity, and respect.
* Relevant qualifications in Community Services, Case Management, Mental Health, Disability, or related fields, or equivalent industry experience.
* Experience in case management within the housing/homelessness sector.
* Experience working with individuals with complex needs.
* Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
* A current NSW Driver's license and willingness to travel within the local area.
* Willingness to obtain police checks, WWCC, NDIS screening, and first aid certification as required.
