The Organisation
The Canberra Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC) is a non-government, feminist organisation working to eliminate sexual violence against women, young people, children and men. Our Mission is to be an active, visible catalyst for social change through the provision of high-quality services within a feminist framework.
We provide confidential counselling and practical support for victim survivors of sexual violence and their families who have experienced any form of sexual assault, sexual harassment or childhood sexual abuse.
We arrange immediate crisis appointments and provide a 24-hour crisis callout service through the Forensic & Medical Sexual Assault Care (FAMSAC) and/or Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Team (SACAT) services.
Our Crisis phone support is available from 7am until 11pm, 7 days a week.
Job Summary
The SV Link Workerwill engage proactively with general practices (including with GPs, nurses, practice managers, allied health practitioners and non-clinical staff) to build relationships, deliver SV (Sexual Violence) and CSA (Child Sexual Abuse) training, and promote resources to enhance the capacity of the primary healthcare sector to recognise, respond, and refer victim survivors of SV and CSA to medical, legal and other support services in the ACT.
Program Objectives
* Increase the capacity and capability of the primary health care workforce to better care for victim-survivors of SV and CSA.
* Improve understanding and awareness of the role of the primary care sector in addressing SV.
* Improve readiness and confidence of the primary care sector to address and recognise SV.
* Increase referrals from primary care to specialist SV and CSA support services.
* Improve specialist support services understanding of the role of primary care in supporting victim survivors.
* Improve partnership and trust between primary care and the FDSV sector.
* Increase continued care coordination loops between primary care and special support services to support the recovery of victim survivors of SV.
* Improve health service navigation for victim survivors of SV and CSA.
Skills and Experience
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in training design, development and delivery.
* Experience with collecting, monitoring and inputting data utilising a CRM and/or Microsoft Excel templates.
* Commitment to trauma-informed and inclusive practice.
* Understanding of Sexual Violence and/or Child Sexual Abuse
Key Responsibilities
* Enhance primary health care capacity and capability to recognise, respond to, and refer victim survivors of sexual violence and/or child sexual abuse.
* Improve system integration between the primary health care sector and specialist support services sector.
* Improve integration of primary healthcare services with Territory level SV initiatives to ensure a coordinated response.
* Improve health system navigation for victim survivors of SV/CSA.
* Improve health outcomes for victim survivors of SV/CSVA
* Identify most viable options for sustainable change to support victim survivors of SV in the primary health care setting into the future.
* Carry out other tasks as needed.
* Position Description may vary slightly over the course of the program.
Development and Delivery of Training
* Collaborate with CHN Family Safety Team and other stakeholders to develop tailored SV and CSA accredited training.
* Deliver training sessions that align with the national PHN FDSV model (Recognise, Respond, Refer).
* Cover foundational concepts, specific training for priority population groups, in-depth training for clinical staff, and guidance for GPs on working with victim survivors.
* Utilise trauma-informed, strengths-based, and inclusive language.
* Co-develop and co-facilitate training sessions with input from the CHN GP Advisor, (RACGP accreditation for training sessions for CDP hours available for clinical staff)
Training Logistics
* Ensure training sessions are approximately 1.5 hours.
* Offer training at flexible times where required (early morning, lunchtime, or after-hours).
* Deliver occasional training predominantly face-to-face, with virtual options available.
* Utilise CHN venue for training sessions as needed.
Quality Standards
* Adhere to National Service, Safety, and Quality Health Standards.
* Follow the Cultural Respect Framework, Commonwealth Child Safe Framework, and National Child Safe Principles.
* Adhere to the National Association of Services Against Sexual Violence (NASASV) Guidelines.
Data Management
* Collect and store data in compliance with CRCC National Privacy Standards.
* Utilise CRM or excel reporting templates provided by Sax Institute for inputting and monitoring data.
Reports and Deliverables
* Submit performance and unaudited financial reports as required.
* Use CHN-provided templates for all reports.
Qualifications
* Training in counselling, social work or a related discipline (minimum of 3 years' work experience required.
* Current Driver's Licence.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in training development and delivery.
* Hold a current Working With Vulnerable People registration.
