Mattermost
Architect

Offer description

Mattermost is the leading collaborative workflow platform for defense, intelligence, security, and critical infrastructure. Trusted by the U.S. Department of War and Fortune 500s, our platform runs on-premises and in private clouds, delivering secure messaging, file sharing, workflow automation, audio/screenshare, and project management—all with full data and operational control. Mattermost powers high-stakes workflows across mission planning, real‐time, real‐world operations, DevSecOps, incident response, and cyber defense—enabling secure collaboration from tactical edge and DDIL environments to enterprise HQ. Teams operate across web, desktop, and mobile, with embedded interoperability for Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft 365.

As a Hybrid TAM & Solution Architect within the APAC GTM team, you will take end‐to‐end technical ownership for Mattermost‐based solutions for customers and partners in Australia, Singapore, and selected APAC markets. This role focuses on defense, intelligence, public sector, and security‐related environments. You will combine architectural responsibility, stakeholder leadership, hands‐on delivery, and ownership of key technology and system‐integrator partnerships to establish a secure, self‐hosted collaboration platform in mission‐critical scenarios.

Role Split: 30% TAM / 70% Solution Architect

Key Responsibilities
* Lead technical delivery of secure Mattermost solutions for defense, public‐sector, critical infrastructure, and security‐focused organizations.
* Conduct requirements and architecture workshops with IT, security, and business teams to translate goals and constraints into robust solution architectures.
* Design end‐to‐end architectures for high‐security environments (on‐premises and sovereign cloud), including network integration, IAM (SSO, SAML/OIDC, LDAP), logging/monitoring, and data protection.
* Manage the full technical lifecycle: concept, prototype/PoC, pilot, production transition, and scale‐out.
* Develop and deliver technical demos, use‐case presentations, and operational workshops.
* Own technical sections of RFXs, security questionnaires, and architecture reviews, collaborating with Sales, Product, Security, Legal, and Compliance.
* Represent Mattermost at industry events and with customer stakeholders, defense contractors, and government authorities.
* Build and maintain relationships with hyperscalers, technology partners, and system integrators.
* Enable partners with training, reference architectures, and reusable assets.
* Provide product feedback and reusable assets to Product and Engineering teams.
* Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned accounts.
* Collaborate internally to resolve complex technical issues and accelerate secure deployments.
Profile / Qualifications
* 10+ years of international experience in customer‐facing technical roles (Solution Architect, Pre‐Sales Engineer, Sales Engineer, Systems Engineer) in B2B software or security.
* Deep knowledge of enterprise infrastructure: Linux, networking, reverse proxies, TLS, web technologies, APIs, and integration into identity/security stacks.
* Strong ability to translate complex or sensitive requirements into clear architectures and roadmaps.
* Excellent communication in German (near‐native) and English (business fluent).
* Experience leveraging Generative AI/LLMs to accelerate tasks.
* Experience collaborating with vendors, partners, and system integrators.
* Existing Australian national security clearance preferred.
* Proficient in structured selling methodologies (e.g., MEDDPICC).
* Willing to travel within APAC and experience with formal RFI/RFP processes.
Nice to Have
* Background in cybersecurity or defense‐tech vendors.
* Experience with open‐source software in regulated or security‐critical environments.
* Familiarity with APAC security and regulatory frameworks.
* Proven track record building technical relationships with system integrators and channel partners.
What We Offer
* Shape secure collaboration in defense and public‐sector environments using an open, self‐hosted platform.
* Remote‐first role based in Australia with direct customer and partner engagement.
* Attractive compensation package including performance‐based variable components.
* High visibility and impact on strategic projects, partner ecosystem, and Mattermost's product/security strategy.
