About the West Region Delivery Team The West Region Delivery Team (WRDT) is delivering one of Sydney Water’s most significant infrastructure programs with a circa $2bn pipeline of works over 10 years. About the opportunity We are seeking an experienced Head of PMO to shape how the WRDT program plans, governs and delivers work at scale. This is a senior leadership role providing portfolio-level oversight across delivery and governance, turning complexity into clear, actionable insight. You will partner closely with delivery leaders, executive stakeholders, the joint venture Steerco and Sydney Water to drive consistency and transparency, strengthen portfolio visibility, and ensure leaders have the clarity and confidence to make strong delivery decisions. In this role, you will; Establish and continuously improve a fit-for-purpose PMO framework that underpins how projects are governed, planned and reported. Lead and develop the PMO team, building capability, accountability and high performance across the function. Provide program-wide oversight, bringing together schedule, cost, risk and performance data into clear, high-impact reporting and dashboards providing senior leaders with timely, decision-ready insight. Oversee resource planning and allocation across a complex portfolio of projects, balancing competing priorities and constraints. Lead portfolio-level risk management, ensuring emerging risks are identified early, clearly understood and actively managed through to resolution. Champion continuous improvement across the program by embedding lessons learned, post-project reviews and knowledge sharing, lifting delivery capability over time. Enable and oversee strong cost control and financial management practices ensuring financial alignment and transparency across the portfolio. What you’ll bring to the team Proven experience establishing and leading a PMO function within infrastructure, construction or major capital delivery programs. Experience working in the utilities sector and/or within a joint venture or large, multi-project program of works is highly regarded. Strong capability in portfolio governance, reporting, risk, resource and financial management within engineering and construction delivery environments. Confidence engaging, influencing and advising senior leaders, boards and external stakeholders, Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline. Expert-level understanding of project management methodologies and strong capability with planning, reporting and analytics tools such as MS Project and Power BI. You are naturally curious, with a knack for using data and analytics to cut through complexity and drive better delivery outcomes.
