The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. We work to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system. As the single independent regulator of Australian Government aged care services, we offer a variety of interesting and challenging jobs across most capital cities. It is an exciting time to join the Commission, with major reforms underway to improve aged care in Australia. You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to safeguard and protect older Australians receiving aged care services.

About the Team

The Sector Capability and Regulatory Strategy Division sets the strategic direction and guides the delivery of our risk-based regulatory operations informed by high value intelligence, analysis and data. The Division supports whole of Commission responses to risk issues through regulatory policy responses and campaigns, and facilitates sector performance through sharing information with providers and consumers.

The Data, Analytics and Intelligence (DAI) Group manages and analyses data from the aged care sector and regulatory activities to understand risks and performance for the purposes of prioritising and informing preventative and responsive risk treatments and regulatory decision making.

DAI’s role is to identify risks and guide decisions that inform preventative and responsive risk treatments. DAI supports service delivery through authoritative data and intelligence practice that is contemporary and compliant with relevant legislation, regulations, standards and aligned with the strategic imperatives of the Commission.

Position Description

The Senior Data Analyst collaborates across teams to translate data into clear, meaningful information, products and services that deliver business outcomes. The role contributes to DAI’s vision to deliver timely, accurate and actionable products and trusted insights that are easily understood and acted on by our stakeholders.

Working under limited direction, the role is expected to exercise sound judgement, apply specialist expertise, manage competing priorities, and contribute to a culture of collaboration, curiosity and continuous improvement. The outcomes of these endeavours empower the Commission to manage risk and ensure older Australians receive the quality of care they rightfully deserve.

Position Duties

- Managing data extraction, analysis and modelling to assist with data-driven decision making and reporting.
- Coordinating and managing data, analytics and intelligence projects, consulting stakeholders and internal teams to define requirements and deliver outcomes.
- Present data in clear, consistent, and accessible formats, including dashboards, reports, briefing papers, and visualisations tailored to audience needs.
- Ensuring integrity and quality of datasets, maintain and support data governance standards, and contribute to improving policies and procedures related to data management.
- Fostering productive working relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients by consulting, sharing information, and collaborating to achieve shared goals.
- Supporting data literacy and capability development, providing guidance, training and support delivery of emerging tools, technologies and methodologies.
- Managing competing priorities and deadlines, showing initiative and resilience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Position Eligibility Requirements

- A security clearance (baseline) or the ability to obtain one.

Position Notes

- Salary offered will be between $96,503 - $108,869 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
- Only candidates who hold Australian citizenship can apply. Appointment is conditional on successfully completing a national police check. For more information, please visit
- Non-ongoing chance will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
