Position Summary
The Property Officer is responsible for overseeing management and maintenance of our Townsville portfolio of SDA houses, ensuring high standards of compliance, tenant satisfaction, and property performance. This role is pivotal in supporting the housing needs of NDIS participants whilst fostering collaborative relationships with Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers to ensure seamless service delivery. The Property Officer will report to and work closely with the National Property Manager, whilst maintaining relationships with SIL providers, internal teams, tenants, and external contractors to optimize property operations and ensure a positive, participant-focused living experience.
Key Responsibilities
Property Management
• Oversee our Townsville SDA property portfolio, ensuring properties are well-maintained and compliant with SDA standards.
- Assisting with property handovers.
• Assist with tenancy agreements, participant onboarding, and property inspections in collaboration with local coordinators and SIL providers.
• Maintain up-to-date property records, including maintenance schedules, compliance certifications, and tenancy details.
Liaison with SIL Providers
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with SIL providers managing participants within the SDA properties.
• Collaborate with SIL providers to address tenant concerns, maintenance requests, and changes in participant needs.
• Attend regular meetings with SIL providers to align on participant support strategies and property requirements.
• Ensure open communication channels between the organisation and SIL providers to foster a cohesive approach to participant care.
Maintenance & Repairs
• Coordinate property maintenance and repairs, engaging and supervising external contractors as needed.
• Assist with preventive maintenance plans to extend property lifespan and ensure safety.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests, prioritising tenant safety and satisfaction.
Participant Engagement
• Work closely with tenants and their support networks, including SIL providers, to address housing-related needs and concerns.
• Collaborate with operational teams and SIL providers to resolve tenant issues efficiently and empathetically.
Compliance & Reporting
• Ensure all properties meet SDA and NDIS compliance requirements, including safety and accessibility standards.
• Conduct regular audits of property conditions and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Provide detailed reports on property performance, occupancy rates, and maintenance activities to the National Property Manager.
Key Selection Criteria
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in property management, preferably within the SDA or NDIS sector.
- Strong understanding of SDA regulations, NDIS standards, tenant rights, and SIL provider operations.
- Experience with property maintenance and compliance.
- Familiarity with accessible housing requirements and disability-focused property modifications.
