**THE POSITION**
Our client who is based in Queensland are looking for multiple experienced General Medicine Principal House Officers to join their health service.
The General Medicine Principle House Officers are responsible for providing high level of medical care to patients in the Department of Medicine under the supervision and guidance of consultant medical staff.
You will be supervising and advising junior medical staff and students attached the Department of Medicine, all whilst providing clinical and administrative support for medical services undertaken in clinical units of the hospital.

**THE HOSPITAL**
Work for the largest health service provider in Queensland, with approximately 700 beds over their two facilities, they offer a range of specialist services including oncology, gastroenterology, obstetrics, and gynecology, renal, orthopedics, general surgery, medicine, psychiatry, pediatrics, and palliative care.
This health service also provides local access to radiation oncology, ophthalmology, cardiology, pediatric ear, nose, and throat services.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACTIVITIES, AND DUTIES**
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service
- Adhere to service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Understand your accountability to uphold the principles and practices of the Health Service's Health and Safety Management System in accordance with legislation and industry standards. Actively promote good health and safety practices to staff of your work area.
- Carry out work in accordance with prescribed practices and procedures and in a manner that will not create health and safety hazards for yourself or others in the workplace.
- Provide medical care under the supervision and direction of senior medical staff.
- Document relevant clinical information and in-patient charts accurately, concisely, and legibly. Ensure discharge summaries and other correspondence are completed with minimum delay and that all such correspondence is complete prior to leaving the unit.
- Conduct interviews, examinations and the identification of clinical problems including day-to-day review of patients.
- Arrange investigations, surgical treatment, medical treatment, and discharge as directed by the assigned consultant.
- Provide support for junior and senior medical staff as required.
- Assist with case presentations at teaching meetings where necessary.
- Participate in clinical meetings undertaken within the appropriate clinical unit.
- Participate in after-hours shift roster as required by the Clinical Director, Department of Medicine.
- Participate in continual professional development and medical education.
**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Fully registered or eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with APRHA.
- IMG's eligible for registration via the standard pathway (AMC Part 1) and Competent Authority welcome to apply.
- Minimum of PGY3+ experience relevant to the position of General Medicine PHO.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including weekends, nights, and public holidays.
- Evidence of involvement in continuing professional development.
- Proven reliability in work within personal level of expertise and seeking assistance as needed from senior staff.
- Demonstrated interest in assisting interns and residents to extend their clinical skills and knowledge.
