Barossa Valley Community Kids is seeking an Education Lead who sees children as capable, curious and deeply connected to the world around them. An educator who understands that environment shapes learning, that inquiry drives growth and that relationships sit at the heart of quality practice.
Who We Are
BVCK is an intentionally small, community-governed early learning centre in the Barossa Valley. With two classrooms and up to 40 children per day, our size allows for meaningful relationships, visible leadership and genuine collaboration.
Our philosophy is grounded in Reggio Emilia principles and nature-based learning. We embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives through daily practice, authentic resources, yarning circles and a commitment to learning with Country. Our environments are designed as a third teacher, indoors and out, where curiosity, risk-taking, creativity and sustained thinking are valued.
We are entering our next chapter, strengthening pedagogical clarity, reflective practice and long-term sustainability. We are looking for an Education Lead who wants to deepen quality and inspire growth across our centre.
About the Role
The Education Lead reports to the Director and plays a key role in shaping curriculum, mentoring educators and embedding best practice across the service.
You will work within rooms alongside educators while also leading reflective dialogue and curriculum development across the centre.
You will:
* Lead development, implementation and evaluation of the Early Years Learning Framework
* Blend Reggio Emilia and nature-based philosophy into daily practice
* Champion child-led inquiry, play and exploration
* Support educators in planning, documenting and reflecting on children’s learning
* Facilitate critical reflection and professional dialogue
* Model best-practice interactions and intentional teaching
* Contribute to quality improvement and continuous development
* Support compliance with NQF, child safety and centre policies
This role requires both hands-on engagement and strategic oversight of pedagogy.
About You
You are an experienced early childhood professional who:
* Holds an approved qualification under the NQF
* Demonstrates strong understanding of contemporary early childhood pedagogy
* Believes children are capable learners, risk takers and explorers
* Is confident mentoring and guiding educators in reflective practice
* Can provide real-time feedback with clarity and respect
* Leads with warmth while maintaining professional boundaries
* Values cultural responsiveness and authentic embedding of Aboriginal perspectives
* Is organised, disciplined and accountable in your role
* Enjoys working collaboratively with a Director and broader team
You believe high quality pedagogy is built through reflection, curiosity and consistent practice.
Why BVCK
* Intentionally small two-room service with up to 40 children per day
* Nature embedded daily, not as an add-on
* Reggio-inspired environments where the space acts as a third teacher
* Genuine opportunity to influence pedagogical direction
* Engaged volunteer Committee invested in strong governance
* Passionate, community-connected team
Families describe our centre as warm, relational and deeply connected. We are committed to preserving that sense of belonging while strengthening practice for the future.
