They are seeking a proactive and detail-focused Purchasing Officer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem solving and values strong supplier partnerships. This role is essential to driving purchasing efficiency, stock accuracy and business performance.
THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Working closely with the Purchasing Manager and wider sales and operations teams, the Purchasing Officer will manage purchasing activities that ensure product availability, competitive pricing and reliable supply. This is a hands-on role requiring strong judgement, commercial thinking, and excellent relationship management.
THIS ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
* Maintain and strengthen long-term, strategic supplier relationships
* Communicate professionally and promptly with stakeholders
* Negotiate pricing, quality and supply arrangements to achieve the best outcome for the business
* Support supplier onboarding and conduct required due diligence checks
* Research and evaluate new supplier, products and market opportunities
* Monitor supply conditions and provide regular updates to the Purchasing Manager
* Help develop and implement purchasing and product strategies that improve competitiveness, profitability and customer service
* Forecast medium-term demand to resolve supply gaps and maintain optimal stock levels
* Work proactively to resolve product quality issues concerns and supply issues
* Support the sale steam with product knowledge, new product launches and customer enquiries
* Act as an escalation point of supply challenges or quality issues
* Assist with customer complaints, including on-site inspections required
* Coordinate product training, sponsorship opportunities and supplier promotions
* Maintain accurate pricing and product information within the POS system
* Analyse stock performance and provide clear, high-quality reporting
* Support cost auditing, stock turnover analysis and maintenance of accurate inventory records

* Experience in a purchasing support role, ideally with timber, hardware or building products
* Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail and integrity
* Strong ability to prioritise workload in a fast-moving environment
* Sound judgement and commercial decision-making ability
* Confidence in working with financial figures, margins and stock metrics
* A collaborative team mindset with a positive approach to contributing to results
