About the role
Reporting to the Financial Controller ANZ, this role leads GL accounting, reporting & analytics under local and US GAAP, ensuring accurate, timely financial results and information.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing month-end and quarter-end reporting for Australian and New Zealand entities to Corporate and stakeholders
* Preparing and reviewing financial statements, audit requirements, statistical and regulatory returns for APRA, ASIC, and RBNZ, addressing comments from the Financial Controller and engaging with stakeholders
* Managing audits end-to-end and supporting timely filings
* Ensuring intercompany agreements and accounting comply with policy, SOX, and are properly eliminated in consolidation
* Maintaining compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and policies through regular review and strong controls
* Developing profit & loss and balance sheet analytics for management KPIs and insights
* Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and timeliness
Ideal candidate
* Qualified Accountant – CPA/CA with 7-8 years post-qualification experience
* Knowledge of the insurance industry
* Strong financial accounting skills
* Leadership skills and a desire to develop team members
* Experience leading teams, preferably remotely
* Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
* Effective communication with internal and external auditors
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Comfortable with senior stakeholder engagement
* Attention to detail
