Drive Project Success in Canberra – Expressions of Interest for Cost Managers, all levels
Turner & Townsend is looking for experienced Cost Managers to join our expanding Canberra office.
The role involves managing cost estimates, tender documentation, and client relationships across public sector construction projects.
Job Description
Provide expert cost management services across various stages of construction projects, particularly for government agencies such as the Department of Education, Defence, and Health.
Develop and maintain detailed cost plans, from initial concept through to project completion, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client budgets.
Conduct thorough risk assessments and value engineering exercises to optimise project costs without compromising quality.
Prepare and analyse tender documentation, including bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to ensure best value for our clients.
Monitor and report on project costs, including cash flow forecasting and cost-to-complete analyses.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and other consultants to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Utilise CostX software to enhance accuracy and efficiency in cost estimating and reporting.
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact project costs.
Represent Turner & Townsend at client meetings and industry events, upholding our strong reputation and values.
Contribute to business development initiatives and proposal writing to secure new projects and clients.
Ensure compliance with Turner & Townsend's quality management systems and procedures.
Participate in continuous professional development to maintain and enhance your expertise in cost management practices.
Qualifications
Recognised degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar field.
3-10+ years of experience in cost management roles, ideally in a consultancy environment.
Previous experience working on construction projects for Government agencies such as the Department of Education, Defence and Health (highly desirable).
Experience liaising or managing clients, contractors and consultants.
Preferable RICS and/or AIQS accreditation.
Proficiency in CostX software.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare detailed cost reports.
Excellent knowledge of Australian construction standards, building codes and regulations.
Proven track record of delivering accurate cost plans and budgets for large-scale projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
