Role Description
We are looking for a Commercial Credit Team Leader with proven experience in the commercial credit space to lead a team of Credit Analysts who complete credit assessments of commercial lending applications.
The Commercial Credit Team Leader identifies and implements improvements to support a best practice commercial underwriting function, while building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You will drive a customer-centric approach within the team, ensuring high quality credit outcomes that deliver appropriate financial solutions for our customers, while maintaining strict adherence to NOW Finance's credit policies and risk frameworks to minimise the business's exposure to unnecessary credit risk.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and develop a team of Commercial Credit Analysts, providing guidance on complex commercial lending transactions and supporting capability development across the team.
* Oversee the end-to-end credit assessment process to ensure high-quality analysis, sound credit decisioning and adherence to internal credit policy, risk frameworks and relevant legislation.
* Act as an escalation point for complex applications and higher-risk credit decisions, reviewing and approving submissions within delegated authority levels.
* Manage daily application volumes and turnaround times in line with agreed SLAs.
* Monitor team performance, workloads and pipelines to ensure service levels, turnaround times and key business KPIs are achieved.
* Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across credit processes, workflows and assessment to enhance efficiency and consistency.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support strong commercial outcomes while maintaining prudent risk management.
* Foster a high performance, risk aware culture through coaching, mentoring and clear communication.
Qualifications & Experience
* Solid understanding of the financial services industry, including strong working knowledge and adherence to KYC, AML/CTF and Responsible Lending guidelines.
* The ability to identify policy breaches, complete policy breach actions plans and deliver the required coaching and training.
* Remaining up to date with relevant credit rules, polices, process and relevant external legislation.
* Minimum 2-3 yrs' experience in a commercial lending environment and previous leadership experience, preferred.
* Demonstrated experience underwriting all types of commercial applications.
* Experience analysing business financial statements, BAS, bank statements, and cash flow.
* Strong working knowledge of KYC, AML/CTF, and compliance requirements.
* Experience working with delegated lending authorities and credit escalation frameworks.
* Proven experience as a Credit Analyst or Underwriter within a commercial credit or asset finance environment.
