Fixed term, full time, day worker (with on-call), position working 76 hours per fortnight, for a period of three years.

Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Clinical Lead – Orthopaedics to work for the Department of Health (DoH) in the North West region. This role will require the successful applicant to work with the Clinical Director - Surgical and Perioperative to assist with providing a high level of strategic leadership and direction, ensuring resources are efficiently utilised, services are effectively integrated within the hospital/service and the highest standards of service delivery are achieved in accordance with hospital/service policy directions, service standards and financial targets. The Orthopaedic service provides both an on call and consultative service at the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) in addition to consultative services at the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH), Latrobe, including orthopaedic day surgery cases.
The DoH offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School. You will be responsible for providing leadership and help with the delivery of the Undergraduate general medical education program.
Responsibilities
- Provide high level strategic leadership and direction for the Orthopaedics service in the North West region.
- Ensure resources are efficiently utilised and services are integrated within the hospital/service.
- Deliver high standards of service delivery in accordance with hospital/service policy directions, service standards and financial targets.
- Provide specialist orthopaedic medical care to patients attending North West Regional Hospital (NWRH), Burnie and Mersey Community Hospital (MCH), Latrobe.
- Contribute to on-call and consultative orthopaedic services and support training and development of junior staff.
Qualifications and Eligibility
Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
Desirable:
- Current Driver’s Licence
Salary and Benefits
You will have access to salary package including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year plus other benefits if eligible. You will also have access to accommodation and relocation costs. Base salary points range from Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments possible. Allowances may include:
- 35% in lieu of private practice
- North West Recruitment and Retention allowance of 20%
- Professional Development Allowance up to $16,974 per annum
- Fully maintained vehicle or allowance up to $28,786 per annum
