About the role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced risk and resilience professional to work closely with, and report directly to, the Director Internal Governance and Risk in driving a risk strategy that empowers our teams, protects the ABC’s reputation and supports our strategic objectives. You will play a pivotal role in guiding the organisation’s approach to enterprise risk, ensuring our practices are proactive, well-governed and aligned with our strategic priorities. In this critical leadership role, you will embed risk awareness and capability across the organisation, enabling teams to confidently manage challenges and seize opportunities in line with the ABC’s strategy, values and risk appetite. Your work will help ensure the ABC remains resilient, adaptable and future-ready in a fast-changing media landscape, strengthening our ability to deliver safe, creative and high-quality outcomes for our audiences. Key Accountabilities Lead the implementation, ongoing refinement and embedding of the ABC’s redesigned risk management framework. Foster a proactive risk culture by engaging leaders and teams, positioning risk as an enabler of innovation and effective decision-making. Oversee business continuity planning and incident management to ensure issues are identified, escalated and resolved efficiently. Provide strategic risk insight to the Executive Leadership Team and Board Committees, supported by clear reporting, tools, training and data-driven practices. Build organisational risk capability by partnering across the ABC to articulate risks and mitigations, enhance resilience, and deliver practical resources and training. Proven experience in enterprise risk management within complex, multi-stakeholder environments, ideally in media, technology or other fast-paced industries. Strong knowledge of contemporary risk practices, governance requirements and regulatory frameworks, supported by a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach. Exceptional influencing and engagement skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, foster accountability and support a people-centred risk culture.
