About the role:
The Advanced Trainee for Geriatric Medicine will provide effective medical services to patients under supervision while developing expertise in geriatric medicine practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatient and outpatient areas with Hunter New England Local Health District.

Rotations may include Community Services, Orthogeriatrics, Psychogeriatrics, Aged Care Rehabilitation, Rural and Acute/Subacute Inpatients at John Hunter Hospital, Belmont District Hospital, The Maitland Hospital, Rankin Park Centre and Calvary Mater Newcastle.
What You'll Be Doing:
The Advanced Trainee will provide effective medical services to patients under supervision while developing expertise in geriatric medicine practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatient and outpatient areas with Hunter New England Local Health District.
Rotations may include Community Services, Orthogeriatrics, Psychogeriatrics, Aged Care Rehabilitation, Rural and Acute/Subacute Inpatients at John Hunter Hospital, Belmont District Hospital, The Maitland Hospital, Rankin Park Centre and Calvary Mater Newcastle.
Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements of the role. Completion of at least four postgraduate years and successful completion of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Divisional Clinical Exam, or equivalent, and be eligible to undertake sub speciality training in Geriatrics Medicine in Australia. Demonstrated commitment to training in Geriatric Medicine and previous experience in Aged Care Medicine. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised clinical environment using excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise. Good time management and organisational skills and advanced computing skills. Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self- education as well as a willingness to teach and support junior medical staff. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
