We're a council that welcomes ideas, embraces change, and invests in our people.Why you'll love working with usCompetitive package: Up to $120,000 + SuperRelocation assistance (up to $5,000) + subsidised rental (3 months)Flexible and hybrid work arrangements, including block attendance modelsRemote work options (within NSW only, due to workers comp requirements)Monthly RDO + supportive work-life balanceStudy support & professional development opportunitiesLeaseback vehicle (optional)Generous leave benefits including paid parental leave & long service after 5 yearsFuture-fit office space (coming ****) and a welcoming, inclusive teamYour impactReporting to the Director Place and Growth, you'll lead Council's planning section and drive continuous improvement in how development applications are assessed and delivered.Your work will directly influence Glen Innes's long-term growth, ensuring development aligns with our community's values and aspirations.Key responsibilities include:Supervising and mentoring the planning teamAssessing and determining development applications in line with legislation and KPIsCoordinating input from technical and consultant teamsFacilitating pre-lodgement meetings and Development Assessment Unit sessionsPreparing accurate, high-quality planning reportsRepresenting Council in the NSW Land and Environment CourtContributing to strategic planning projects and policy developmentPromoting planning awareness and positive community engagementAbout youYou're an ambitious planning professional with 3–5 years' statutory planning experience (ideally within local government) and a Class C driver's licence.
