About the opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking individual with CA/CPA qualifications to join our client's business for the long haul.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the company accountant role offers a unique opportunity for a self-sufficient professional. Given the compact size of their Australian division, you will assume a comprehensive accounting role, encompassing payroll, accounts payable and receivable, banking, and board reporting, among other duties.
About You
You need to enjoy working autonomously as this is a standalone role with broad responsibilities (horizontally and vertically) due to the smaller size of the Australian entity. This is a position that would suit an experienced, strategic yet hands-on company accountant with a sound understanding of financial management across all parts of the business.
Candidates must have 3-5 years of experience in a company accountant or financial controller role.
You perceive yourself as a collaborative team member who appreciates the significance of strong relationships and transparent communication, qualities that align seamlessly with thriving in a small company alongside a tightly knit team.
Australian citizenship is required for this position.
You may have a background from a large commercial enterprise but could equally come from a smaller construction, mining or manufacturing company. To be successful in this role you will ideally meet the following criteria:
* Qualified CA/CPA.
* Demonstrated commercial acumen.
* Experience in a SME business environment.
* Minimum 3-5 years of SME business environment experience required.
* Strong work ethics and a proactive approach.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* The ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
* Experience with customer quotation, tender preparation, and contract negotiations will be beneficial.
* Enjoy hands on accounting with the opportunity to work strategically at times.
* Experience with Wiise ERP, MYOB EXO or MYOB Advanced would be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage accounting requirements for a single company entity.
* Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
* Handle fortnightly payroll.
* Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations.
* Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and month‐end journals.
* Ensure BAS, FBT, and payroll compliance.
* Manage cash flow and foreign exchange.
* Analyse month‐end results with explanations and commentary.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly management reports.
* Create annual budgets and forecasts.
* Conduct financial data analysis to support decision‐making.
* Assist in the preparation of tax returns and annual audit reviews.
* Mentor and train the accounts team.
* Prepare and present financials to the Directors.
