Seeking an experienced Technical Writer.
The Technical Writer will work closely with our engineering teams to document the way our products are designed. This role is critical to safeguarding Safetech’s technical know-how by transforming tacit engineering knowledge into structured, accessible documentation.
You’ll be responsible for producing clear, accurate, and user-friendly technical documentation that can be used for training, standardisation, and future design work.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineers across mechanical, electrical, controls, and mechatronics disciplines to understand how products and systems are designed and developed.
- Document engineering design methods, calculation processes, control philosophies, and system integration practices.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation such as:
- Design standards and guidelines
- Work instructions and procedures
- Functional descriptions and control logic documentation
- Product design summaries and configuration notes
- Create explicit, structured, and logically organised documents that are easy to follow and accessible to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Review content with engineers and subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy.
- Establish and maintain a consistent document structure and version control process.
- Contribute to building a centralised engineering knowledge base or documentation repository (e.g., within Vault PDM).
- Assist in the preparation of training materials or design handbooks derived from engineering documentation.
- Other duties as required.
Skills and Experience:
Background in engineering or a technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or similar).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documents.
Proven experience in technical writing or documentation development within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Excellent written communication skills; able to explain complex technical information in simple, clear language.
Strong attention to detail and a structured, logical approach to organising information.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and familiarity with CAD data and document control systems (e.g., Vault PDM, SharePoint).
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with technical experts and translate their knowledge into written documentation.
