They offer design, manufacture, engineering certification and installation support, partnering with clients from start to finish. Besteel is now looking for an experienced Building and Engineering Technician to join their team. The right candidate will be responsible for: Supporting Construction Managers, Engineers, Architects, and Site Supervisors in the coordination and delivery of steel framing and structural steel projects. Interpreting architectural and structural engineering drawings, Australian Standards, NCC requirements, and fabrication specifications. Preparing preliminary sketches, detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical documentation for steel frames and structural components. Reviewing and updating blueprints, layout plans, connection details, and workshop drawings to ensure accuracy and buildability. Assisting in project scheduling and coordinating fabrication, delivery, and on-site installation activities. Inspecting materials, welds, connections, and installed steelwork to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards. Assisting with quantity take-offs, cost estimations, and timeline projections for steel fabrication and installation works. Conducting site measurements and collecting field data to verify dimensions, tolerances, and structural alignment. Performing technical calculations and preparing supporting documentation to ensure structural integrity, load compliance, and efficient steel utilisation. About you: At least 1 year of experience as a Building Technician; Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and structural engineering drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication plans; Strong knowledge of Australian building regulations, NCC requirements, relevant Australian Standards, and structural steel compliance codes; Familiarity with site measurement tools, laser levels, total stations, and digital drafting software (e.g., CAD) for accurate site verification and documentation; High attention to detail to ensure precision in technical drawings, fabrication documentation, and compliance assessments; Ability to adapt to evolving fabrication technologies, steel framing systems, and advancements in construction and engineering practices.
