The Opportunity
We are seeking a Qualified Automotive Technician to join our Vehicle Assurance team at Tassels Place Innaloo as a Vehicle Compliance Examiner.
In this position, you will play a vital role in ensuring vehicles on WA roads meet required safety and compliance standards. You will provide technical advice and support to industry and the community through auditing inspections and at times the examination of standard and modified vehicles. You will contribute to the ongoing capability of the sector by supporting the training and mentoring of Authorised Vehicle Examiners and fostering constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive professional to apply their expertise in a role that directly supports safer vehicles, improved industry standards, and better customer outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
An Automotive Trade Certificate and broad automotive experience across a variety of vehicle types.
Successful applicants will be required to hold a valid C class of WA Driver's License with willingness to obtain additional licence classes including HR and R at Department's expense.

Occasional intrastate travel

Ability to operate specialised vehicle examination equipment

There is currently one (1) permanent position and several fixed term full-time position available with the possibility of extension and or permanency.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 24 months from date of first appointment across the Department of Transport.
About you
Demonstrate experience in a broad automotive background.
Demonstrated possession of an Automotive Trade Certificate.
Ability to communicate and negotiate with a diverse range of people, including ability to adapt communication according to targeted audience.
Demonstrate experience in the application of Australian Design Rules (ADRs) in the context of vehicle examinations.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and constructively as at team member.
Excellent customer service, negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
Analytical thinker, adept at applying policies and procedures.
Independent worker and team player.
