Job Description
The primary role of the caseworker will be to facilitate groups and co-facilitate a range of psycho-education group sessions to individuals in custody or under community supervision. These sessions aim to address substance use and related issues, covering short and low-intensity groups, moderate-intensity groups, and high-intensity group programs.
Key Responsibilities
* Foster relationships with program participants through initial engagement and assist in developing individual outcomes.
* Conduct pre-enrolment interviews and obtain participant consent for intervention and participation levels.
* Administer pre and post testing to assess knowledge on program content, with additional psychological assessments required for higher intensity programs.
The caseworker will operate within harm minimisation frameworks, including the National Drug Strategy 2017-2026 and the Queensland Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Service Delivery Framework 2015.
Key Skills and Knowledge
* Recognise the spectrum of substance use and stages of change.
* Work effectively with clients across all stages of substance use.
* Respond to various psychoactive substances, including alcohol, tobacco, licit and illicit drug use, pharmaceutical misuse, emerging synthetics, and poly-drug use.
* Consider support needs of clients and their families, including dependent children.
* Address method of use and associated risk factors, acknowledging rapid changes in drug use trends.
