Role Summary:

This is a development-focused role that involves using traditional and digital media tools to engage major stakeholders in the agricultural industry. You will be responsible for creating written communication materials, assisting with logistical requirements for events, and contributing to content creation and management of social media accounts.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work within the Centre for Crop and Disease Management (CCDM) to support communications and extension activities. This includes:

* Researching, writing, and preparing written communication materials such as media releases, blog posts, case studies, and website copy.
* Assisting with logistical requirements for events targeting key stakeholders.
* Contributing to content creation and management of social media accounts according to the CCDM's social media strategy.
* Supporting creation of other communications materials including videos, podcasts, tools, and resources.
* Supporting updates and management of the website through WordPress.
* Supporting review and reporting on communications activities.


Selection Criteria

Essential criteria include:

* A degree in a relevant discipline such as Agricultural Science/Agribusiness, science communications, public relations, marketing, or a related subject area.
* Experience in professional writing, social media, and the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and timely communication materials.
* Experience in event coordination, using outstanding organisational skills to set priorities and meet deadlines.
* Passion for science and science communication.


Desired Qualities

Desirable qualities include:

* Experience in online design and publishing tools (e.g., Canva) for creation of promotional materials and visuals.


Additional Information

As this is a fixed-term role, you will require work rights in Australia matching the tenure of the role. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance and background checks to Curtin's satisfaction.
