Position Overview
Provide high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred specialist Medical Oncology services within the Coffs Clinical Network, contributing to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with cancer. The role is primarily based at the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute (Coffs Harbour), with inpatient services at Coffs Harbour Base Hospital and outreach clinics to Macksville District Hospital.
Responsibilities
Support the development of Cancer Care services
Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice
Support and develop Medical Oncology research and clinical trials
Support and participate in quality improvement and governance activities
Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice
Provide high-quality medical oncology services to emergency patients, inpatients and outpatients at the relevant hospitals
Qualifications and Experience
Registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Medical Oncologist, and/or overseas trained specialist pathway
Demonstrated recent experience in the provision of effective high-quality medical oncology services, including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty
Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students and other staff of the hospital and evidence of supervisor training
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health service colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary health care team and to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff
Demonstrated experience in, and commitment to research relevant to the role and needs of the Department
Demonstrated ability to adapt to digital transformation initiatives, including the implementation and effective use of electronic medical records, telehealth services, and data-driven approaches to improve oncology care delivery
Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time
