The Opportunity
Reporting to the Company Secretary & General Counsel, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the privacy laws and regulations across Australia and New Zealand.
You'll work closely with the Chief Information Officer, IT Compliance & Security Manager, and business leaders to align our legal obligations, technology, cybersecurity practices and AI initiatives.
This is a critical, newly created role to shape how we manage, protect, and use data responsibly across our ANZ operations.

Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain data privacy policies and procedures aligned with the Australian Privacy Principles and other applicable frameworks.
Oversee data classification, validate paperwork, and manage retention and destruction policies and practices.
Conduct regular privacy audits and risk assessments across business units.
Provide expert advice and training to employees on data protection and privacy compliance.
Promote a privacy‑by‑design culture across projects and operations.
Serve as the organisation's primary contact for privacy authorities and manage data breach incidents and investigations.
Coordinate responses to individual privacy and data access requests.
Collaborate with IT, Legal, and Compliance teams to integrate privacy principles into business processes.
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and ensure ongoing organisational compliance.
About You
You're a trusted expert who brings both legal and practical insight to data governance and compliance. You balance strong technical understanding with excellent communication and advisory skills. The ability to collaborate effectively across legal, IT, and operational teams will be essential.
* Deep knowledge of privacy and data protection laws (Privacy Act, GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
* Experience in privacy risk management, data governance, and compliance frameworks.
* Familiarity with tools such as data loss prevention (DLP) systems and encryption technologies.
* Experience with data mapping, management, and analytics platforms.
* Strong attention to detail and integrity in handling confidential information.
* A proactive mindset and the confidence to guide leaders in making sound privacy decisions.
* Experience in the transport and logistics industry will be highly regarded.
