Description
The Sunshine Coast Turf Club is a Thoroughbred Horse Racing and Training Facility; and Function Venue that operates 60 race meetings a year plus several non-raceday events.
An opportunity is now available to join the team at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club in a Turf Management and Horticulture as a 1st Year Apprentice.
This position is a full-time role and will include some weekend work around key race meeting events and busy periods.
The successful applicant will be passionate about working in the outdoors and have the opportunity to take on a wide range of responsibilities. You'll be collaborating with seasoned professionals and will be guaranteed a comprehensive learning experience. Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll receive full support to develop skills that will pave the way for a fulfilling career in turf management and horticulture.
The position includes but is not limited to:
* Operating vehicles and machinery as required for various tasks.
* Control and remove weeds using manual and chemical methods.
* Turf maintenance and general gardening requirements.
* Track preparation and maintenance.
* Cleaning up and setting up for trackwork, race meetings and events.
To be successful for this role you must:
* Be available to work weekends.
* Willingness to learn and exceptional work ethic.
* Have a current manual driver licence.
* Reliable and committed to completing the apprenticeship and excelling in your role.
* Enthusiastic about learning and growing and welcome constructive feedback.
* Able to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
* Enjoy working or being outdoors and can demonstrate a genuine passion for the environment.
* Ability to complete necessary paperwork accurately and clearly.
* Understands and takes safety seriously, identifying risks or hazards.
