About the Role
We are seeking a friendly, organised Medical Receptionist / Administration Officer to join our busy general practice in Southport.
This role is the first point of contact for patients and plays a key part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the clinic. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing professional front desk support, managing patient bookings, and assisting clinicians with administrative tasks.
There may also be the opportunity for the right candidate to assist with basic social media updates and online engagement for the practice, however this is not a requirement for the role.
Key Responsibilities
* Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
* Managing incoming phone calls and patient enquiries
* Scheduling and confirming patient appointments
* Processing payments and Medicare claims
* Managing patient records and maintaining confidentiality
* Scanning, filing and general administrative duties
* Liaising with doctors, nurses and allied health providers
* Assisting with recalls, reminders and patient communication
* Maintaining a tidy and organised reception and waiting area
* Supporting practice operations and daily workflow
Optional (not essential):
* Assisting with basic social media updates for the practice (Facebook, Instagram etc.)
Skills and Experience
* Previous medical reception or healthcare administration experience preferred
* Strong communication and customer service skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* High attention to detail and organisational skills
* Professional presentation and a positive attitude
* Experience with medical software (Best Practice) is desirable but not essential
* Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
