**In this role, you'll**:
Work within maintenance and construction teams across the Upper Hunter region ensuring project specifications and work plan requirements for civil works are followed and implemented in accordance with quality and safety standards.
The position will be based out of Singleton with some work away from home base based on project requirements.
The Works Assistant Grade 3 - PQR will also be responsible for:
- Guiding, supporting, and influencing field-based teams to perform roles and works to WHS, traffic, environmental and quality standards, including the accurate documenting of works checks and records.
- Verifying that work activities are completed to quality specifications by following established procedures, performing measurements to confirm quality both during and on completion of work, comparing results to engineering plans and contract requirements, and completing required records. This will involve safety, environmental and quality checks, audits, asset inspections, competency assessments and staff/contractor inductions.
- Guiding team members, leading the work output of a small unit as required, to develop capability, capacity, compliance, and process improvement.
- Understanding and maintaining knowledge of WHS legislation, policies, and procedures, assessing, and controlling risks, records management and industry requirements to minimise risk and model safe work behaviour.
We take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be successful in this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 75 km to the Singleton works depot.

**About you**:
You have proven experience operating within a civil construction environment or industry equivalent and will meet the essential criteria, including:
- NSW Industry White Card
- Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence
- Traffic Control (Implement Traffic Control / Prepare Work Zone) or ability to gain within the first 3 months of employment.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills in MS Office Suite
You have a sound understanding of road maintenance and construction and associated infrastructure, are process focused and are someone who enjoys working flexibly across multi-faceted tasks.
You are passionate about quality assurance, attention to detail, and understand the importance it has to the final product.
Any experience in WHS and/or Quality Systems will be highly regarded.
Experience and/or a qualification in accident/incident investigations is beneficial but not essential.
