About the role:
The Port & Rail team is seeking a Superintendent – Shutdown Rail to join the operation in Port Hedland on a 4 days on, 3 days off roster. Reporting to the Manager Rail Maintenance, this position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for the planning and execution of rail renewal activities, including grinding, tamping, and associated civil works across the rail network. The role will ensure that all maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with organisational, budgetary, and legislative requirements.

You will lead by example to uphold the highest standards of safety for employees, contractors, and visitors, while actively advancing the continuous improvement of safety systems, procedures, and practices. Demonstrating strong interpersonal capability, you will provide effective coaching and training, influence key stakeholders, and cultivate cooperative working relationships across the organisation, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
Duties:
* Ensure executable maintenance schedules align with overall rail maintenance strategies and organisational requirements for safety, quality, environment and legal compliance.
* Ensure company HSE standards, risk management processes and safe system of work requirements are consistently applied across all activities
* Contribute to maintenance management plans, equipment strategies and long-term asset planning, including sustaining capital needs
* Monitor progress, report performance, and escalate unplanned or non-routine issues to relevant stakeholders
Skills and Experience:
* Tertiary Degree in Engineering or similar technical field or demonstrated equivalent experience
* Extensive experience at Superintendent level in iron ore rail and maintenance operations or similar
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of understanding on maintenance philosophies, reliability, productive and RCA
* Strong budgeting and forecasting with demonstrated experience in improvement methodologies such as six sigma and lean processes
