Doral Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (DMS), has well established heavy mineral sands mining and processing facilities near Bunbury, Busselton and Mandurah in the Southwest of WA. As part of the company's growth strategy, we are looking to broaden our mineral sands operations within the Gascoyne region of WA.

The Mine Planner is responsible for providing planning, scheduling and design support to the Doral Mineral Sands Coburn (Gascoyne region) mine site operations.
Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Mine Planner liaises closely with technical, mining and contract personnel, nurturing a team approach to the workplace.
The role seeks input, communicates with and guides all operational and mining personnel, providing engineering skills and data necessary for running of the mine site, in a safe and efficient manner, whilst working towards maintaining or exceeding budget targets.
The role also extends to additional responsibilities of the Quarry Manager in their absence.
Key Accountabilities
Provision of specific engineering skills and data including, but not necessarily limited to:
o Annual, Quarterly and Monthly Mine scheduling (ore, tails, clay etc)
o Daily earthmoving cost control
o Feed forward plans/data as required
o Pit optimisation
o Pit design
o Plant moving schedules
o Rehabilitation planning and budgeting
- Perform non routine surveys as required.
- Provide back up to pit geological services as required.
- Develop, manage and maintain life of mine plans.
- Develop, manage and maintain mine closure plans.
- Seek input from and communicate plans and schedules to technical and mining personnel.
- Help and support peers including contractors/consultants within the operation to complete activities.
- Ensure that decisions are based with a total business outlook to ensure effective decisions are made.
Leadership Duties (During Mine Manager’s Off-Swing):
- Act as the site’s Quarry Manager, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
- Lead daily operational meetings and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Manage site compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Support workforce management including rostering, issue resolution, and performance oversight.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or appropriate post school studies in mining engineering or equivalent - highly desirable.
- Sound understanding of an employee’s requirements under the “Work Health and Safety Act (2020)” and the “Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations (2022)”.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mine planning, preferably in mineral sands or similar bulk commodities.
- Holds or is willing to obtain a Statutory Supervisor certification.
- Quarry Managers Certificate or Restricted Quarry Managers Certificate.
- High Level of computer literacy particularly in mine planning software such as Surpac and Deswik.
- Demonstrated leadership capability and experience in acting roles or supervisory positions.
- Demonstrated diagnostics and trouble shooting ability along with sound mechanical aptitude and strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Current manual driver’s license and ability to pass site medical and induction requirements.
