Sexual Health Medicine Registrar Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sexual Health Medicine Registrar to join our team in Darwin.
About the Role
This position provides an opportunity for advanced trainees or medical practitioners with relevant qualifications and experience to develop their skills and expertise in sexual health medicine.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical and public health management for sexually transmitted and blood borne virus infections, participating in public health responses to incidents such as outbreak investigation and management, and engaging in activities related to media, public messaging/alerts, and teaching and applying research to practice.
This role sits within the Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Unit, and the successful candidate will work closely with staff specialists and other health professionals to achieve a range of competencies for Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine sexual health physician training.
Main Responsibilities:
* Providing clinical and public health management for sexually transmitted and blood borne virus infections in Clinic 34s under the supervision and direction of staff specialists.
* Participating in public health responses to incidents such as outbreak investigation and management and emergency management.
* Participating in and coordinating projects that may arise within sexual health.
* Participating in the development and implementation of policies and programs across sexual health medicine.
* Engaging in activities relating to media, public messaging/alerts, and teaching and applying research to practice.
* Participating in the AChSHM training program.
* Fostering a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection Criteria:
* Medical Practitioner eligible for general or conditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Advanced trainee of AChSHM or qualifications and experience suitable for acceptance as an advanced trainee of the AChSHM.
* Demonstrated appropriate interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, including the ability to liaise with a range of health professionals, both in hospital and community-based settings.
* Experience in sexual health medicine and a proven ability to demonstrate clinical and operational skills in the field.
* Evidence of conceptual and analytical skills that may include previous research experience.
* Knowledge of current and emerging NT public health issues related to sexually transmitted infections.
* An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable Qualities:
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant specialty and specific experience in public health practice.
