About The Role
The City of Ballarat's Events team is seeking a committed individual who can work cooperatively and positively to deliver a broad range of events and programming initiatives. The Events Officer will assist in the development, delivery and promotion of a diverse range of events for Ballarat, specifically those which contribute to the social and economic prosperity of Ballarat. The successful candidate will project manage key Council events, including the Ballarat Heritage Festival and Christmas in Ballarat, overseeing planning, marketing, delivery and evaluation, while supporting the delivery of other events within the Events Unit portfolio.
Working closely with industry, stakeholders and the community, the Events Officer will drive strong outcomes while delivering high‐quality customer service, regulatory guidance and event support to a wide range of partners.
Responsibilities
* Project manage the planning, implementation, marketing, delivery and review of all events managed by Council's Events Unit – e.g. Ballarat Begonia Festival, Ballarat Heritage Festival, Ballarat Winter Festival and Christmas in Ballarat.
* Coordinate the delivery of quality, safe events including traffic management, risk management and engagement of contractors, suppliers and entertainers.
* Provide a high level of customer service, regulatory guidance and other general information to all internal and external event and community stakeholders.
About You
* Tertiary qualifications and/or significant experience in event management, or related industry.
* Demonstrated experience with developing and implementing traffic management plans, event site plans, emergency management plans and procedures, supplier and performer contracting, and an understanding of relevant regulations governing the events industry.
* Experience in working with voluntary, community and professional event organisers.
* Proven leadership experience and ability to manage staff and contractors.
* Ability to achieve set goals in strict timeframes while operating with flexibility and adapting to changing circumstances.
* Experience with budget management and other relevant financial procedures.
* Ability to work flexible hours including after hours and on weekends and undertake some physical work (e.g. setting up equipment required at events).
* Knowledge of safe work practices relevant to the events industry.
