About the Role
As a Natural Areas Officer, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing Council's environmental reserve network. You'll work outdoors across diverse landscapes, undertaking bushland management operations to protect biodiversity and ensure safe, sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support and deliver on ground fire management activities as part of Council's program.
* Perform tree and vegetation works including pruning, mulching, brush cutting, planting, and dispersal.
* Manage invasive plants and apply herbicides using various methods.
* Maintain assets and assist with related construction tasks.
* Remove debris and litter from natural areas.
* Undertake tasks aligned with Council's Environment Reserve management plans.
* Conduct pre-start checks and basic maintenance on machinery and weed control equipment.
* Clean and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment used by the field crew.
About you
You're passionate about natural resource management and thrive in an outdoor, hands-on role. You'll have:
* Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management (or equivalent experience)
* Current Commercial Operators Licence (herbicide application)
* Construction White Card and Chainsaw Level 1
* Senior First Aid and Working with Children Blue Card
* Manual driver's licence and 4WD experience
* Level 1 Bushfire management training desirable

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
