About the Role
We are looking for two permanent full-time Health Information Educators who will deliver high-quality Vocational Education and Training (VET) services to domestic and international students. HIMAA courses focus on health information management with a predominant emphasis on clinical coding. Responsibilities include supporting students from enrolment through course completion, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of learning content and educational services. As part of a fully remote team, Health Information Educators must be proactive, collaborative, and committed to fostering an engaging online learning workplace.
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Coding Education Services, the Health Information Educator will participate in all service tasks and activities with the team and work collaboratively with the Learning Content Manager (LCM) and the Education Systems and Support Officer (ESSO) to fulfil the following key responsibilities:
- Actively support student learning by responding to help-desk enquiries and individual learning needs
- Provide virtual academic assistance through Teams and lead online workshops
- Foster a strong connection between students and the RTO to enhance engagement
- Ensure timely grading and feedback on assessments, maintaining service quality KPIs
- Invigilate exams and provide after-hours student support within agreed timeframes
- Stay up-to-date with HIMAA course materials and contribute to their ongoing improvement
- Develop new coursework under the guidance of the Learning Content Manager (LCM)
- Create engaging learning resources, including video content and interactive online materials
- Deliver virtual classroom presentations and webinars
- Participate in peer review and quality assurance of learning materials
This role is responsible for regulatory & compliance duties such as:
- All training and assessment practices meet RTO compliance standards
- Maintain accurate student records and contribute to continuous quality improvement
- Participate in validation, moderation, and mapping activities
- Assist with compliance documentation and updates in response to changing standards
About You
To be successful for the role, essential selection criteria are:
- Minimum 2 years of clinical coding experience in a complex case-mix environment in public or private healthcare settings
- TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to complete within 12 months)
- HLT50321 Diploma of Clinical Coding (or willingness to upgrade within 6 months)
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and ACS clinical coding standards
Preference will be given to candidates with the following experiences and skills:
- Additional qualifications in health information management, clinical coding auditing or education
- Experience in coding education, audits, documentation improvement or health information management initiatives
- Familiarity with VET sector requirements and regulatory frameworks
- Experience developing online learning content and delivering webinars
The incumbents must have:
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in online education settings
- Ability to effectively give and receive positive and constructive feedback
- High proficiency in Microsoft 365 and use of systems consistent with appropriate use of learning management systems
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work autonomously and deliver high quality work
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, contribute positively to a team environment, and uphold HIMAA’s values of Innovation, Leadership, Excellence, and Respect

The successful candidates may require occasional travel to fulfil the role requirements, and travel will be all-expenses-paid. There may also be a requirement to support international students during after-hours shifts.
