About the Role
Nillumbik Shire Council is seeking a dynamic and forward‐thinking Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor to lead a passionate team within our Planning, Environment & Strategy Directorate. The role supports the Municipal Building Surveyor and leads a high‐performing team to deliver professional, customer‐focused statutory building services. Responsibilities include inspections, approvals, enforcement and compliance, fostering innovation, continuous improvement and community safety.
Typical Day
* Work with the Director, Municipal Building Surveyor and staff to provide leadership and shape organisational culture in line with Council's vision and values.
* Develop and review performance management plans with outcomes‐based objectives aligned to organisational priorities.
* Identify future talent and invest in team and individual development to build capability.
* Ensure compliance with Council policies, procedures and legislative requirements in HR, occupational health and safety, equal opportunity, anti‐discrimination and industrial instruments.
Requirements
* Tertiary degree in Building Surveying with substantial experience or a Diploma in Building Surveying with extensive and diverse experience.
* Current unconditional registration as a Building Surveyor (Unlimited) or Building Surveyor (Limited) with extensive experience.
