Are you a passionate mental health nurse looking to make a meaningful impact in the community? We are seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses and Clinical Nurses to join our dynamic community mental health team.
About the Role:
You will work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment to provide comprehensive mental health care to individuals within the community. This role includes intake and triage, mental state assessments, safety planning, care coordination, and supporting clients through recovery-focused interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct face-to-face and telephone mental health assessments, including AOD screening
* Triage and risk assessment in community and acute settings (e.g. ED)
* Develop and implement safety and recovery plans
* Manage mental health crises using de-escalation and aggression management techniques
* Provide psychoeducation, support, and referrals to clients and their families
* Collaborate with GPs, case managers, and allied health professionals
Essential Criteria:
* Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mental health nursing
* Experience working in a community mental health setting
* Demonstrated ability to conduct mental health assessments and safety planning
* Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act and relevant legislation
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Current driver's license and ability to travel for community outreach
Desirable:
* Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing
* Familiarity with electronic medical records (e.g. CIMHA, CHIME, or similar)
