Role Overview:
This position involves supporting the supervision, care and instruction of special-needs students in regular classrooms or self-contained settings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Instructional Support: Assist teachers in adapting classroom activities, assignments and materials to meet the needs of special-education students.
* Assessment and Data Management: Administer tests, homework and grades to help evaluate student progress and organize individual student needs.
* Medical Assistance: Provide medical support as required to ensure the well-being of injured children.
* Personal Care Support: Assist students requiring additional support with personal care needs due to medical conditions or physical limitations.
* Maintenance of a Safe Learning Environment: Monitor students during assigned periods within various school environments to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Collaboration and Communication:
* Tutoring and Remediation: Instruct students in individual and group settings to reinforce instructional objectives and implement remediation plans.
* IEP Meetings and Progress Updates: Confer regularly with special-education and mainstream teachers to evaluate student progress and implement IEP objectives.
* Parent and Teacher Communication: Communicate effectively with teachers and parents to provide information related to student progress.
