Your New Role
As a Senior Database Developer, you will support the development, testing and enhancement of the Data for the internal system—an essential data management platform.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Maintaining, improving and testing data management system
* Installing software on on‑premises hardware and cloud environments (including AWS)
* Supporting the archival, rescue and formatting of meteorological and ocean data
* Developing training material and delivering training to regional partners
* Producing and maintaining technical documentation
* Working closely with internal teams, Pacific stakeholders, and international collaborators
* Providing remote and on‑site technical support to users across the Pacific
* Contributing to ongoing improvements across climate services and data platforms
What You Need to Succeed
* Demonstrated experience developing and coding web‑based database applications
* Strong technical skills across Linux (Ubuntu), PostgreSQL, Python, HTML/PHP and JavaScript
* Knowledge of AWS, Apache, Bootstrap, Leaflet, and Highcharts (highly regarded)
* Experience developing and delivering IT/CDMS training, ideally within developing-country contexts
* Ability to analyse and evaluate large climate and environmental datasets
* Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
* Strong time‑management skills with the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
* A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement
