Our client is a renowned utilities management and design organisation operating across multiple states, specialising in utilities design, construction management, electrical engineering and digital engineering in both traditional and renewable sectors.
As a
Utilities Design Manager / Project Manager
, you will play a pivotal role in the management and delivery of critical utilities infrastructure projects. You will oversee utilities risks, manage relationships with utility companies, and optimise time and cost positions.
Responsibilities
Management and Oversight of Utilities: Collaborate with cross-functional client teams to integrate utilities strategies across packages and contracts; provide general support for utility-related issues; conduct SME reviews on utility-related design submissions; coordinate utility designers, surveyors and Utilities Digital Engineers to manage the utility scope; manage delivery of utilities site investigations and early works packages; identify opportunities for time and cost improvements; escalate utilities issues to senior management to mitigate risks; prepare and present regular reports on utilities risks to package/project senior leadership; support Utilities Project Managers in leadership and professional development.
Risk Mitigation and Strategy: Lead utilities risk management, ensure timely resolution and efficient delivery; identify significant risks and work with the utilities team and owners to establish mitigation measures; collaborate with senior management to identify key risks and develop mitigating strategies to minimise delays and cost escalation.
Collaboration, Support & Business Development: Provide tender support and coordination for various tender packages including preparation of tender documentation; build and maintain relationships with clients, utility owners, authorities, local councils and state government; work with the wider utilities team through open communication; foster client relationships to identify opportunities and support winning new work through input to tender submissions, meetings, presentations, and reviews of tender documentation and designs.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making skills.
Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Proven experience in project management, particularly in utilities infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of utility management, construction processes, and risk mitigation.
